Announcing Virtual Auditions for R2P2GO!

I know it hasn't been long since our last message, but like I said in that one, we have a lot going on right now! One of our latest endeavors is a series of outreach performances we're calling: R2P2GO!

R2P2GO performers will visit senior living facilities, school programs, and community events to bring a portable musical revue anywhere!

We're holding auditions to find R2Peeps in grades 6-12 who want to join this traveling troupe. Singers should prepare a whole song that they'd be interested in performing for R2P2GO. (We know that ordinarily, we only ask for a short section of a song for auditions and that preparing an entire song takes a different level of independent work – that's intentional, since R2P2GO will require the participants to operate more independently than for a conventional show.)

Singers should consider songs that will have appeal over a wide range of ages. (Golden classics like Rodgers & Hammerstein, love songs, funny songs – all great places to start. That angsty contemporary one with all the swear words? Maybe save it for another time.)

The auditions will be entirely virtual with songs submitted by video. This means you get as many "takes" as you like until you're satisfied with your audition, and you can submit it any time from January 21 until February 4.

You will fill out the full form as you would for any other R2P audition. After registering, be sure to check your email for a link to create your User Account. Creating your user account will not only save you time in the future (thanks to our new online database system, you won't ever have to fill out that whole form again!), but also that's where you will upload your photo and your audition video.

If you're reading this and thinking, "I've graduated beyond my R2P2GO participation years, but I wish I could hear those marvelous young people sing!" – firstly, what an interestingly specific thing for you to be thinking, and second, I get it. They are marvelous, and you would surely enjoy their efforts. The good news is that we'll be making these performances more widely available soon. We will charge a small fee to perform at commercial businesses (start planning your next holiday party or event now...) and these will subsidize our free performances for nonprofits, seniors, schools, etc. Stay tuned, and we'll share more about that later.

We're looking forward to hearing your audition songs and to get some performances going!

That's it for now (although we're busily working on more stuff, coming soon...) As always, thank you for being part of our R2P family. Wishing you good health and good times until next time.

And thanks to everyone who has already listened to The R2P Podcast. We appreciate the nice feedback and encouragement about the episode we just released. Remember that we answer listener questions, so if you have any for us, send an email to podcast@runningtoplaces.org. (Better yet, record a voice memo on your phone and email it to us – we might use your voice on a future episode!)
